Senior Product Manager (f/m/d) Buyer Protection Services

Trusted Shops SE (DE) • Berlin, Cologne

Berlin, Cologne

from today / asap

Your duties

At Trusted Shops, we're shaping Europe's Community of Trust – a space where businesses and consumers connect with confidence, transparency, and security. Every day, millions of users and thousands of companies across Europe trust us to deliver safe, reliable, and seamless digital experiences.

Home of our product development is the Products & Engineering department, which consists of 15 cross-functional product teams across three product domains, working in an agile environment.

Your Key Responsibilities as Senior Product Manager (f/m/d):

As a Senior Product Manager (f/m/d) for our Buyer Protection Services, you will own a system that quietly underpins the trust millions of European consumers place in online shopping. This isn't a greenfield role full of workshops and whiteboarding — it's a role for a PM who is energized by understanding how a complex claims, payouts, and risk system actually works under the hood, and who finds satisfaction in shipping the unglamorous improvements that move real business metrics.

This role is based in either Cologne or Berlin, with hybrid working.

Your profile

You'll work deep in the mechanics of buyer protection: claim flows, payout logic, fraud and abuse edge cases, subscription and billing interactions, regulatory and compliance constraints, and the data models that hold it all together. Decisions here are rarely about "what should we build next" in the abstract — they're about which specific lever, threshold, or workflow change unlocks measurable impact. You will partner closely with Engineering, Data, Operations, Finance, and Risk to make those calls with rigor.

If you're a PM who reads runbooks for fun, who would rather spend an afternoon in SQL than in a brainstorming session, and who gets a kick out of turning a tangled legacy process into something that just works — this role will suit you.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Product Manager owning business-critical systems or features, ideally in SaaS, financial services, insurance, payments, or other domain-heavy environments

  • Genuine comfort with technical and operational detail — you like understanding how systems work, reading data models, tracing edge cases, and asking engineers the second and third "why"

  • Strong analytical instincts: you reach for data before opinions, and you can frame a problem in numbers before proposing a solution

  • A bias for incremental, compounding improvements over big-bang launches — you understand that in mature, high-impact systems, the wins come from many well-targeted changes

  • Working knowledge of SQL (or willingness to get fluent quickly) — you'll use it

  • Understanding of financial, insurance, or compliance-heavy environments and the technical, functional, data, and regulatory constraints they bring

  • Calm in ambiguity — you're comfortable when the problem space is messy, the legacy is real, and the right answer requires digging

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English (German is a plus). You can translate fluently between engineering, finance, operations, and risk stakeholders, and you write things down so decisions stick

  • Experience with Customer Service and Subscription Management tools and systems is a plus

    What we offer you:

  • Hybrid work: Combine flexible remote work with team time in the office

  • Workation: Temporarily work from a destination of your choice within the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway

  • Permanent contract with Europe's trusted brand

  • One "Self Education Day" per month

  • 28 vacation days + 2.5 additional days off at

  • Christmas, New Year's Eve and Carnival

  • Buddy programme (an experienced trustee is at your side)

  • Individual training opportunities

  • Events (Team Events, Unit Events, etc.)

  • Health Pass (free online and offline sports, fitness and health courses)

Programming Languages
Programming Languages

Java: Java is used by some of our Tech teams and supports us with components that have complex logic, usually in combination with Spring Boot

TypeScript: We use TypeScript combined with the React framework in the frontend and also on the server side with NodeJS

Python: We often use Python when processing or transforming data.

Frameworks
Frameworks

React: React is used when the performance of our solutions is important. Our B2C environment, in particular, benefits from React (shop profiles, trust badges, widgets, etc.)

Spring Boot: When it comes to complex business logic in Java and Kotlin, we use Spring Boot. It is deployed in ECS

NodeJS: Our focus is on serverless, and we often use typescript in the backend. We mostly use NodeJS in combination with AWS Lambda

Service & Tools
Service & Tools

Circle CI:  CircleCI is our CI/CD tool for automated builds, testing & deployment

GitHub:  GitHub supports our internal open source policy and enables cross-team cooperation and feedback

Ansible: We use Ansible to provide our virtual servers in a repeatable and automated way

Terraform: Our AWS infrastructure is fully managed with Terraform. This allows us to keep a simple history of all changes and minimise the manual effort.

Databases & Hosting

DynamoDB: DynamoDB is often used to access large amounts of data in real time. We regularly use it with AWS Lambda to provide a scalable solution.

PostgreSQL/MySQL: If flexibility of data access is paramount, then we also use relational databases

AWS:  For us, it's "cloud first" so that we are able to scale the infrastructure of our products. Here we rely on services such as AWS Lambda, S3 and DynamoDB

Backend Developer

Right now we are working on a new major project for user management and permissions, which is interesting but also complex and has many aspects that will allow it to be integrated into other components. I really like the fact that, as developers within the team, we can decide which technology and programming language we want to use and how we structure the processes. This can sometimes be a challenge, but it helps us gain a lot of new experience. I can work on anything I want to learn about on self-learning days. And of course we have a very friendly and open working atmosphere. Team building events and mob/pair programming sessions also contribute to this.

Frontend Developer

I am currently working in the Review Insights team. In this product team, we work on frontends that help our customers, i.e. online retailers, to draw valuable information from the collected reviews. I have another colleague in the team from the front-end team with whom I work closely. This starts with the planning and discussion of solutions and ends with the joint revision of the written code. Overall, the working atmosphere at Trusted Shops is very pleasant and relaxed. Thanks to a specially developed platform solution, each product team can build its own micro frontends and is thus independent of the other product teams. This means that you are not restricted in your choice of framework, for example - however, we mainly use the common JavaScript frameworks. Personal development is also encouraged. This year, for example, I was able to take part in a one-week summer school on the topic of deep learning, and we basically have one day a month at our disposal to continue our education as we see fit.

I’m Jasmin, a Software Engineer in the Questionnaire Team, and I’ve been with Trusted Shops since 2022. I build features that help our customers collect and use user feedback effectively, working closely with Product and Design from the first idea to golive. I love the mix of technical challenges, ownership, and seeing the real impact of our work. Our team is open, supportive, and collaborative — a place where questions and ideas are always welcome. Trusted Shops truly invests in personal growth and continuous learning. As a woman in tech, I feel empowered and well-supported, especially through initiatives like the Women in Tech Guild, which give us space to connect and shape meaningful change. I'm Nata, Product Manager in the Questionnaire Team of the Business Domain. I've been at Trusted Shops since 2025 and I still notice how much I enjoy working here every day. What motivates me every day is our team. We have an atmosphere that doesn't feel like a given. People help each other, communicate openly and transparently, and you can tell that everyone wants to make an impact and build great products. You can feel exactly that beyond your own team as well. Collaborating with colleagues or other teams never feels like an effort, but like working together towards a shared goal. That makes all the difference for me. If you're looking for an environment where you can work with amazing people on meaningful products, I can wholeheartedly recommend Trusted Shops!

Thibaut Charprenet
Thibaut Charprenet
Senior Product Designer

As a Senior Product Designer, I work as part of the Advertising Product team. Together, we get to make most of the critical decisions about our products and enjoy plenty of freedom in the way we shape our roadmap.

My daily work never gets boring and always looks different depending on what phase of a project we are working on: in the discovery phase, I take care of the user research and data collection that will inform our decisions. In the conceptual phase, I deliver the user journey and the wireframes before moving to the more final graphic design. Finally, I also drive the user testing rounds or customer interviews to validate our new releases and establish the next UX improvements.

Every step of the way, I can rely on our in-house UX team to help me organise workshops, get feedback or support me with more advanced graphic tasks, such as illustrations and animations. Among the many excellent reasons to join Trusted Shops, the amazing UX team and our great diversity of profiles and colourful personalities would probably be my number one!

I really appreciate the culture of fostering education at TPS, we get the opportunity to learn new things or get support to do that outside the company as well. I get to talk to people from different departments, which enables me to own my work and gather new experiences. The guilds at Trusted Shops are a great way to give back and help coworkers, like the Women in Tech or Frontend Guild. I recommend Trusted Shops to anyone who doesn’t want to stop growing and wants to meet amazing people!
