Your duties

Trusted Shops develops SaaS solutions for over 40 million users and 30.000 companies all over Europe. As a proactive sparring partner, you will be a business partner for our units (e.g. HR, Product Development/IT, Sales/Operations) as well as the face and number one contact person for the BU Heads in all financial and business management issues. You analyze and evaluate our activities from the perspective of the business units and thus form the basis for strategic and operational decisions. You will lead the team with the existing employees and be responsible for the further expansion and development of the team.

We are looking for you to support the further development of existing controlling processes and structures, reports and finance-oriented management tools, using your methodological knowledge to enable our business unit heads in the best possible way in all finance-oriented processes, such as planning or forecasting. In this way, you will make a significant contribution to the strategic growth of Trusted Shops AG.

Proactive sparring partner for the operational and strategic decision-makers in the business units (unit heads)
Analyzing, commenting and reporting on business development and financial statements, preparing target/actual comparisons and variance analyses from the perspective of the business units
Team leadership of the Business Unit Controlling team (partly remote). Leading team meetings, further development of team members, responsibility for the search, selection, recruitment and induction of new employees (recruiting)
Successful collaboration with key stakeholders from our business units:
Shaping collaboration with internal interfaces such as New Business Sales, Account Management, Customer Success the ACT Heads, HR/People, or the Central Units
Responsibility for the timely and quality-assured forecasting and planning process from the perspective of the business units
Participation/support in projects (internal & external finance)
Processing of ad-hoc evaluations (e.g. competitive analyses) for the Director Controlling, the CFO and the other management team

Your profile

Completed business studies with a corresponding financial focus
Experience in the professional and disciplinary management of a (remote) team; ideally in an internationally operating company, the software/SaaS industry or the Internet and e-commerce environment desirable
Proven experience in the area of business unit controlling and corresponding experience in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with the various business units
Knowledge of sales provisioning and corresponding bonus models
Proven experience in sales and cost planning from a business unit perspective
Analytical skills in relation to SaaS KPIs including monitoring, reporting and forecasting
Competent and confident demeanor, coupled with very good communication and presentation skills, results orientation
Structured way of working and hands-on mentality
Strong analytical and conceptual skills, high level of initiative and commitment
Very good written and spoken German and English skills

Not only is the personal interaction, the working atmosphere and the mindset in the department great, I also really enjoy the work itself. Here, tasks are not just dully processed, but contexts and backgrounds are also explained. Thanks to the participation in the monthly closing, there is always variety of tasks. As a debtor, I can also get a taste of balance sheet accounting here - very interesting for me personally. Cross-departmental work is a daily occurrence here and I'm never stuck in a bubble. There are often projects, for example, to optimise processes or to improve cooperation with other departments. So I always have the opportunity to get involved and can actively shape processes and structures. Many of my colleagues have become friends and I simply feel comfortable.

At the end of 2021, I started as a Controller at Trusted Shops after graduating from university. In addition to extensive onboarding, my first goal-oriented projects and activities helped me to familiarise myself with the corporate culture and the job of a controller. For example, I was able to participate in the relaunch of the Smart Goal tracking, in which the Smart Goals of our units are consolidated on a monthly basis. This immediately gave me a comprehensive insight into the company and a feeling for the world of figures in a SaaS company. Thanks to the trust placed in me by the team and the immediate involvement in controlling topics, I was able to acquire new skills in the areas of IT systems, reporting, planning and proactive communication with various stakeholders within a short period of time. As part of the reorientation in Controlling, in which we work together on projects despite the newly created teams (Business Unit Controlling & Corporate Controlling) and maintain a very close exchange, I now have the position of Business Unit Controller. I am available to the business units I supervise as a sparring partner for month-end closing, ad-hoc requests, setting up cost analyses and other topics.As an employee in controlling and especially as a business unit controller, I look forward to accompanying the journey and development of the units and thus contributing to the significant success of Trusted Shops.
