Teamlead Corporate Controlling (f/m/d)

Cologne (hybrid) or Berlin (remote) | Permanent employment contract (full-time)

In this role, you and your hybrid team are responsible for company-wide standards in planning, forecasting, cost and performance steering, and monthly reporting. You connect overall P&L, cost centers, profit centers and SaaS drivers into one consistent steering logic and act as a sparring partner for the Controlling Director, CFO and management.

What you will drive with us

  • Manage integrated budgeting, forecasting and mid-term planning, including planning calendar, governance, templates, responsibilities and quality assurance.

  • Further develop driver-based forecast models and scenarios for revenue, costs, headcount, profitability and cash, deriving risks, opportunities and concrete actions.

  • Own month-end closing and management reporting from a company-wide perspective, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, plan-actual-forecast comparisons, root-cause analyses and management-ready commentary.

  • Further develop the cost center structure, cost type logic and profit center basis together with Accounting, Business Controlling and Business Intelligence, including in the context of the cost-of-sales method and intangible assets.

  • Ensure effective cost controlling by creating transparency around cost development, commitments, savings, overspends and budget phasing, and by following up on agreed measures.

  • Create multi-level contribution margin calculations for units, customer segments or further steering dimensions, and define transparent allocation and margin logic.

  • Integrate SaaS drivers and KPIs such as ARR, churn, expansion, gross margin, CAC, CAC payback and usage metrics into planning and reporting.

  • Standardise business cases, investment assessments and sensitivity analyses, automate recurring planning and reporting processes with Business Intelligence, and develop the team both professionally and as people.

Your profile

  • Degree in business administration, economics or a comparable qualification with a focus on finance/controlling

  • At least 5 years of experience in corporate controlling or FP&A, ideally in an international SaaS, software or digital business model

  • Responsibility for budgeting, forecasting and management reporting, as well as confident application of driver-based models and scenario analyses

  • Sound knowledge of cost centers, cost types, profit centers, contribution margin calculations, and P&L and closing logic

  • Conceptual strength, quality orientation and a pragmatic hands-on approach in complex finance environments

  • Experience in the functional and disciplinary leadership of hybrid teams, combined with enthusiasm for developing people, responsibilities and standards

  • High affinity for systems and data, very strong Excel and modelling skills, and confident communication of complex topics in German and English

Nice to have

  • Experience with planning, ERP or BI systems

  • Conceptual strength, quality orientation and a pragmatic hands-on approach in complex finance environments

Accounts Receivable

Not only is the personal interaction, the working atmosphere and the mindset in the department great, I also really enjoy the work itself. Here, tasks are not just dully processed, but contexts and backgrounds are also explained. Thanks to the participation in the monthly closing, there is always variety of tasks. As a debtor, I can also get a taste of balance sheet accounting here - very interesting for me personally.  Cross-departmental work is a daily occurrence here and I'm never stuck in a bubble. There are often projects, for example, to optimise processes or to improve cooperation with other departments. So I always have the opportunity to get involved and can actively shape processes and structures. Many of my colleagues have become friends and I simply feel comfortable.

Controller

At the end of 2021, I started as a Controller at Trusted Shops after graduating from university. In addition to extensive onboarding, my first goal-oriented projects and activities helped me to familiarise myself with the corporate culture and the job of a controller. For example, I was able to participate in the relaunch of the Smart Goal tracking, in which the Smart Goals of our units are consolidated on a monthly basis. This immediately gave me a comprehensive insight into the company and a feeling for the world of figures in a SaaS company. Thanks to the trust placed in me by the team and the immediate involvement in controlling topics, I was able to acquire new skills in the areas of IT systems, reporting, planning and proactive communication with various stakeholders within a short period of time. As part of the reorientation in Controlling, in which we work together on projects despite the newly created teams (Business Unit Controlling & Corporate Controlling) and maintain a very close exchange, I now have the position of Business Unit Controller. I am available to the business units I supervise as a sparring partner for month-end closing, ad-hoc requests, setting up cost analyses and other topics. As an employee in controlling and especially as a business unit controller, I look forward to accompanying the journey and development of the units and thus contributing to the significant success of Trusted Shops.
